For an industry that doesn’t exist yet, green hydrogen has some ambitious targets to reach. Coupled with this, green hydrogen carries an expectation that no other form of energy production has: to decarbonise the highest carbon-emitting industries for good. But will it ever become a reality? If so, potential stakeholders must establish what will happen before green hydrogen goes mainstream and how it will achieve commercial viability first. But who are these stakeholders? And what are the barriers they’ll need to overcome both in the technologies involved and in setting up this new global industry? In this edition of Digital Dialogues, Financial Times Live partners with subject matter experts Iberdrola to start the discussion as we would with any new industry: closing technology gaps, investment and industrialisation.
